Chocolate Chip Cookie - Levain Bakery
The store has appeared on the Food Network and has some fantastic cookies to try, especially their chocolate chip walnut or dark chocolate chip cookie. Just as the picture suggests, the cookies are huge! It is the very best cookie in the city and worth the trip to the Upper West Side. Each cookie is pricey (4$) but worth every penny.
Salty Pimp - Big Gay Ice Cream
Vanilla dipped in salty caramel and covered in chocolate, the Salty Pimp is a must for any ice cream enthusiast. The staff are super friendly too. The company started off as a food truck and they are now located all over the U.S. Their name has created controversy but it has also helped them develop an identity. For any Golden Girls fan, don't forget to try the Bea Arthur. You can't go wrong!
DKA and Cronut - Dominique Ansel Bakery
The Cronut: To wait or not to wait? Beat the lineups and try out the best bakery in the city. Taste the Cronut, a mix between a croissant and a doughnut, at its original birthplace with a new flavour released every month. Explore the various pastries from the S'more to the Kouign-amann, Dominique Ansel Bakery offers a new experience for anyone with a sweet tooth.
Cereal Milk - Momofuku Milk Bar
This was my personal favourite - cereal in a cup. If you enjoy your cornflakes with a beautiful layer of ice cream in between, then this is definitely the place to be. A mix of sugar, salt and cereal milk, this is one totally addictive sweet. They also offer their Crack Pie and Corn cookies which are worth having.
Banana Pudding - Magnolia Bakery
Having been featured in movies and TV shows like Sex and the City, Magnolia Bakery is known for their cupcakes. They have a large selection of desserts and you will need to wait the line-up for this place. We decided to try their famous Banana pudding as well and it did not disappoint. Your taste buds will be spoiled and your pellet will never be the same again.
Cheesecake + Brooklyn Blackout Cupcake
@ Two Little Red Hens
We went to this cheesecake spot and were pleasantly impressed by their pastries. The cheesecake is rich in taste and a decently-sized portion. The infamous Brooklyn Blackout is pure chocolate covered with more chocolate with a nice layer of fudge on top. Yes, this cupcake is recommended to all chocolate lovers.
Cheesecake - Eileen's Special Cheesecake
Are you looking for that rich creamy flavor in a cheesecake? Then this is the place for you. Eileen's Special Cheesecake offers the largest variety of cheesecakes and considered by most, the best in town. It's fairly priced and when you can consider their Plain Cheesecake amazing, just imagine the rest!
Chocolate Babka - Breads Bakery
Breads Bakery is your traditional bakery with a wealth of fresh breads and delicious pastries, but if it's one sweet that truly stands out, it's their Chocolate Babka. The famous Seinfeld show treat did not miss and is just amazing.
Creme Brule Doughnut - Doughnut Plant
Stop by this bakery and try out the best specialty doughnuts in town. From square shaped to traditional donuts, the Doughnut Plant offers a large variety of handmade donuts with gourmet flavors. This place really thinks out of the box but still maintains their 100 year old recipes. The cost can be considered a bit pricey (3.75$) but they are definitely filling and worth having. If you haven't tried it while in New York, it deserves at least one visit. The Tres Leches and the Creme Brule are definitely on top of the list.
